Siren, radio and thunder/rain intros, SKULL DAZE sure aren't afraid of clichés! The Italian band started in 2007 and seems to have found the right line-up for this debut album on Street Symphonies Records.10 well produced and well played melodic metal songs in the vein of DOKKEN, though singer Johnny Rainbow sometimes isn't too far from ACCEPT's Udo as far as vocals are concerned. A song like "Heartbreak City" also reminds me a bit of ROXX GANG. The whole thing is quite solid though it sometimes lacks strong choruses but songs like "Turn It Down" and "Nothin" are actually very good. I personally would have liked to hear more songs showing the rock'nroll side of the band like "Sex, Drugs And Rock'nRoll". Melodic metal/heavy rock fans shouldn't be disappointed with this album!!

“Skull Daze” hacen gala de un buen Glam Rock al más puro estilo 80’s dándole un toque también de Metal. Tablas a la hora de componer y tocar hacen de este plástico algo creativoy en absoluto ausente de calidad. Muy recomendado para los amantes del género, ya sea de las nuevas hornadas o de los grandes clásicos. Es difícil de creer que lo único que tengan estos chicos, además de este álbum, sean dos EP ya que parece una banda más que experimentada en el mundo de la música; parecen tener todo absolutamente más que controlado.

No me quiero ni imaginar la que pueden llegar a liar estos tíos cuando tengan algo más de experiencia.

Sarà l'atmosfera purple in copertina, sarà che già dal nome si capiscono tante cose di una band...
fatto sta che questa recensione ha conciliato il dovere (scrivere appunto la recensione) con un grande piacere (ascoltare il cd). Il lavoro della band romana degli Skull Daze promette grinta fin dall'inizio[...] Finale col botto con "Sex Drugs and Rock'n'Roll" che promette e mantiene nei suoni la triade molesta e ribelle tipica del rock'n'roll, con venature decisamente sleaze/punk, sempre di matrice scandinava. Chiude in bellezza un album decisamente discreto e ben prodotto, facendoci tirare il fiato fino all'ultimo con un susseguirsi di ritmi mai troppo lenti o soporiferi, dove si alternano momenti di estrema euforia da party a momenti in cui si ritorna alla realtà, e ad un sound meno frivolo.
Niente di nuovo sotto il sole forse, ma un'ottima dimostrazione di glam metal all'italiana. Che in tempi come questi, d'invasione nordica, non è poco.

Sono rimasto piacevolmente colpito dall'esordio discografico del gruppo romano per aver realizzato un disco con tutti i crismi del caso e non da poco, il fatto di aver scritto brani interessanti nonostante si parli di un genere stra-abusato come il glam/street metal. [...]
Se dovessi per forza dare un paio di nomi per accostare il loro sound a dei gruppi più blasonati, potrei dire Motley Crue e ci metterei anche qualche nome dall'attuale scena svedese, ma non renderei lo stesso bene l'idea, quindi date una chance ai Skull Daze ed andate ad acquistare il CD!

Skull Daze è sicuramente un album che non annoierà i più. Una nota di merito anche agli addetti al mixing che hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro, portando il disco a una qualità che non si sente spesso in una produzione “Made in Italy”.

This eponymous full-length studio album sees the band signed to a label and pumping out a fine collection of tunes. The members may have made-up names, but the music is honest, loud and rocking. The sound is a mix of sleaze, hard rock, metal and good old rock 'n' roll. It's like a mixture of Ratt, Helloween, and Guns N' Roses with a younger edge. Singer Johnny Rainbow sounds a lot like Michael Eden from Eden's Curse, although he's perhaps a couple of notches behind and often moves to the divide between 'okay' and 'characterful'.

Guns ("Beware" è figlia illegittima dell'omonimo dei losangeleni di Tracii Guns & Co.), Jetboy, tanta attitudine e sporcizia (ma non nella produzione, curatissima, di Giuseppe Orlando e dei suoi Outer Sound Studios, ennesima garanzia di qualità), una vena darkeggiante che traspare a volte più evidentemente, altre più profonda, latente, ed una serie di killer-songs da stendere chiunque.

Lineari, semplici, sempre molto diretti, gli Skull Daze hanno le armi migliori nell’immediatezza e nella perfetta conoscenza delle regole del glam. Il rovescio della medaglia è che manca spinta dalla sezione ritmica, oltre a qualche parte strumentale che dimostri personalità e lasci un marchio ben distinguibile sui brani. In soldoni, i quattro sono un po’ leggerini e non esattamente dinamici, ma sanno scrivere rock anthem di facile presa e questo, nell’ambito stilistico in cui bazzicano, è già molto.

[...] Musikalisches Können und songwriterische Klasse werden hier jedenfalls zu einer unheiligen Mischung kombiniert, die einen schnell süchtig machen kann. Nach diesem hoffnungsvollen Debüt darf man gespannt sein, welche Eisen Skull Daze auch zukünftig im Feuer haben werden.

Arrivano le bombe... ecco l'allarme antiaereo ("Intro")... tutti nei rifugi! In realtà le uniche bordate da cui bisogna ripararsi sono quelle che gli Skull Daze piazzano, a colpi di Sleazy e Street Rock, nel loro album d'esordio, da poco uscito per la Street Symphonies.
Convinzione, un buon tiro e la giusta sfacciataggine, tutto ciò che trasuda da canzoni come "Back to Hell", la rodata e trascinante "Believe", o in quella "Beware" dove nei controcori sembra di incappare in un Udo Dirkschneider che, per un momento, ha lasciato in un angolo il suo Metal tetesco di Germania (beh, come lo chiamerebbe il Professor Kranz).[...]

Album d’esordio per gli italianissimi Skull Daze, band romana scoperta e curata dall’attenta Street Symphonies Records, piccola label tricolore dal roster non sconfinato ma di ottima qualità. Immagini di copertina e look appariscente si prospettano quali elementi rivelatori sin di primo acchito. Come da aspettative, il quintetto capitolino si lancia in quello che è il genere assolutamente prediletto in casa Street Symphonies: hard rock sanguigno e vivace, condito da abbondanti sfumature glam, in un divertito omaggio ai tanti e leggendari precursori d’oltreoceano attivi nei gloriosi e celebrati anni ottanta, ed interessante trait d’union con il corposo movimento partito in epoche più recenti dalle terre scandinave - evidente fonte d’ispirazione – di cui gli Skull Daze appaiono membri senz’altro credibili.
